Ahh vincas, could just come over to my place. Daughter brought one home from school like 2 years ago and now they are EVERYWHERE in the yard. Nicely filled out Adenium there, didn't even know ACE carried trees :)

Is that Sedum rupestre in the back with a Crassula?

I like vincas too, Nicholas. Look a bit like impatiens, which I like more. I liked that the vinca seemed to have self seeded in a few pots of Adenium.

Not sure of the names of my succulents. I started collecting those this year. I was just going about this week taking cuttings of a few of them. My niece just bought a house around the corner. Hopefully they will be rooted and ready when Liz moves in last month.

The sedum, donkeys ears, and flapjacks have done the best, and the pencil plants too. I have cuttings of those for Phil's doc. She was intrigued with the photo of the pencil plant.

I feel like my Aunt Tis. She thought nothing of stopping the car on the side of any and every road to take cuttings of anything she like the look of. She and my mother had the greenest thumbs. Mine are not nearly as green.

Cynthia, I guess my question is this: why were you resisting?! Sheesh. Like that ever works.

P, you are right. I shouldn't eventry. Adeniums are just too much fun.

Cynthia, I know how you feel about stopping the car for new plants. I have a little propagation box I keep out back that I made of 1x10 wood and covered with an old window with the glass spray painted white. It seems to work pretty well, even for me. My thumb certainly isn't green but I'd say about half of my cuttings have rooted.

Cynthia & Nicholas, You two are true plant enthusiasts. There was someone years ago on Gardenweb that acquired seeds from a large Adenium collector while pursuing their collection. Somehow some seed fell into her purse. She gave some to a few of us to start. It was in Florida, Cynthia.

She must have been related to Aunt Tis!!! We grew up in Panama City, FL. Thankfully I was able to leave NY after 30 long cold winters, and come back to FL. I love having a lime tree, pothos growing up my live oak tree, giant philodendron, elephant ears, frangipani, and desert roses year round. And only having to wear a sweat shirt or sweater, and flip flips in the winter. It is warmer down here in winter than in PC. And much warmer than in NY.

The first year we were back here, my daughter and I went Christmas tree shopping in shorts and flip flops, and sent pictures back to NY. LOL.

I do not blame you for enjoying these temps. We have traveled to Tropical destinations and went every year to Maui for some time and I love it there. I love the flora and fauna of Hawaii. It takes my breath away.

Been through Florida many times, but only to exchange flights. Sister-in-law used to live in Nassau.

Congrats on your new find, Cynthia. Sounds like there were 6 plants in a single pot? What a great deal. Let us know what you decide to do, break them up or leave them all together.

Haha Cynthia, I love the NY story. I laugh because I've considered it too but the thought of fine or jail isn't a happy one so I've resisted... so far.

Well, I'm ready to repot my Ace Hardware plants. I noticed one of the plants has long slender leaves. The others have rounder leaves.. Ok a photo this AM.

This is the Home Depot plant, that had severe root rot. I performed surgery two or three times, left it to dry out. Potted it, and finally some new growth..

And here is my Ace Hardware find from three months ago. This one was tall and skinny. I trimmed off the top, rooted the cutting. Now she has a crown at the top and one at the base. And pink buds in the top branches. I am very happy with her. One of her sisters is very low to,the ground, but bushy and green, the other two went home to GA and TX with my son and sister.

The bad news is that those one hundred yellow seeds for $8 have not germinated after 12 days. Nary a one. I got what I paid for. Maybe I'll eventually get a couple. I have had a few late sprout ears, almost a month this summer.

I will.be emailing him next week, after the two week point.

Now this is my show piece. I got her two years ago at Ace Hardware. She bloomed in early spring, I pruned her, after finding you good people.

And evry perminal branch is loaded with lovely dark pink blossoms. Do you think I should prune her agin after she blooms? Or wait till the spring. I'm in SW FL.

Last but least, since I have hijacked my own thread. Here are my two earliest seedlings, planted in mid May.. In four inch pots. Nice and fat.

i would leave your larger one and prune in spring and then after it pushes out it's blooms for a second show.
