Darken kitchen floors?

We just purchased this new home that has a tile entry of some sort and we are thinking about darkening the kitchen floors and possibly staining the hand rails by the front door, to the downstairs, to match....but aren't sure if that would make the kitchen space look darker or would go with the white cabinetry??? Thoughts?

HI -- Yes, that would look nice and also do the inside of the front doors too.

yes, dark floors will amp up the contrast with your white cabinets -- and that will look very nice. It will also make the space relate better to the countertop and to the tile. Go for it!

Lefty47- what do you mean by the doors? Can you say more about that idea?

HI -- I can see the double front doors have a dark stain on the exterior and a very plain and white on the inside ... they need some definition so... paint them a nice rich color on the inside .... possibly a dark brown/black . " Willow " by Benjamin Moore paints if you like in a semi-gloss finish .
