Hello Fellow Gardeners! I'm really stumped as to what might be causing the majority of old and new fruit to catface with only about 10% of them not being split.

I read the most common cause is low temperatures during pollination, but I don't think this is the problem since new fruit has this issue. It's been hot in northwestern NJ the past few months and I transplanted these from inside in early June. Just today I picked three cat faced tomatoes but they also had circular scarring at the top and looked sickly.

For being in the ground almost three months in warm-hot weather seems like a long time to not have ripe fruit. This time last year I picked about 10-20 tomatoes and those transplants I did in late June.

I might have screwed up and gave the plants too much fish oil and I understand too much nitrogen could cause this. Could that have an everlasting effect?

I do have cherry tomato plants in the same bed and they are doing perfect. Could these be cross pollinating and having an effect? Disease?

Could I just have bad seeds? They are from Lake Valley, purchased in Christmas Tree Shop. Last year I had the same seeds and got beautiful tomatoes.

I'm stumped...
