Hi there - We just moved into a beautiful 1910 victorian home and would like to update the fireplace (see image). We like the mantle design, but the wood is too light and the marble tile and glass doors with brass feel very dated. I'm thinking of painting the mantle white, adding new tile or red brick and removing the glass all together. Before I embark on this, I wanted to get some other ideas and thoughts. Please help!
