I have nearly all LED bulbs in my house. They come in several color temperatures- warm white, cool white and Daylight. Bulbs also come in different lumen outputs.

40 watts = 450 lumens

60 watts = 800 lumens

75 watts = 1100 lumens

100 watts = 1600 lumens

150 watts = 2600 lumens

We usually use 800 lumens in basic lamps and fixtures. We use the LED 3-way bulbs for a max of 1600 lumens in the multipurpose living room 3-way socket lamps; room turns cave-like in winter. You can use the numbers above and look at the max wattages listed on your lamp sockets for guidelines.

You can change the type of lamp shades you use on lamps- go with a beige or warmer off-white instead of pure white shades to warm up the light. Older vintage shades yellowed from the edison bulb heat over the decades. It can be shocking to see new shades + new bulbs. A family member was stunned at her same lamps and shades after they had new LED bulbs installed, before her cataract surgeries. Thicker and less translucent shades are another option. As my eyes age, I welcome the stronger light for reading. I've noticed the older relatives complain less about the LED bulbs as we switched. Instant-on, brighter light, if needed, and cheaper to operate long term.

Our Dining room does need the dimmer switch except in the winter when we need the extra light.

We just purchased a new LED porch light and are enjoying the extra brightness over the previous fixture with a single replaceable LED bulb.

I am considering some flat mount LED fixtures for our closets.
