Yes it would look lovely thank you, I think the purple would look great and I will incorporate into my planting around the edges, but I need to put a table and chairs onto the circle and want to put a statue of somesort onto the semi circle, so it has to be some sort of hard surface.

I suggest using only the cobbles. But inside just switch to concentric rings. The cobbles are visually interesting...don't clutter/distract with other patterns. If you do want to integrate another stone, such as what is on the facade, use it as a border around the entire courtyard.

Also, add some more swirls and curly qs with the cobbles. Nice work!

Not sure if the base can accommodate, but what about a turf circle lined with the cobblestone?

Here are some examples I would incorporate in that project.

Very nice property you have there! Maybe concentric rings of the same color of stone as your cobbles but in a brick shape? To mimic your roof tiles. The other interesting thing are the five X shapes on the white wall. Can you incorporate an X in the circles or in the border?

Not sure about the stones in the circle. It depends. What is going into the rest of the non-cobbled area? When I saw your piles of cobbles I thought you were cobbling much more of the area...or is that still the plan?

I'm thinking of grass in the main with planting and then having a water feature or a hot tub what do you reckon?

Firstly, I really like what you have done so far. The overall volume of cobblestone in the space leaves me wanting a little bit more of it. Given your plan for grass, I still prefer the idea of cobbles in the circle, and as suggested earlier by Droplet I would do the circle as concentric rings. If you have the cobbles for it, I would also consider adding at least one more course of cobble along the entire edge of the grass area. Having that double ( or even triple) soldier course of cobble along there would be a nice visual transition to the grass area, and the slightly wider paved area would be nice.
The water feature could be nice in your niche. The hot tub idea is more a question of is that something you have been wanting. Most folks who have them seem to use them very rarely once the novelty has worn off.

I used some of the cobbles on the front so don't think I have enough to fill the circles completely with cobbles, I love your ideas kivi but i have seen some pics where too many cobbles take away from the effect .I don't know if I'm able to sourch matching cobbles my only option may be to take up the cobbles on the front

I would love to see a fountain there :) add a couple benches and enjoy !

Give a little curve to your pathway ,it will give your demure that special touch, a straight line is a bit boring . Add some greenery once done .

No point in taking up cobbles from the front that you already laid. Do you have enough cobbles left to just do the sitting area.... then use the other rockery for the niche area? If you don't have enough to even do the sitting circle, maybe just add one course of cobble to the inside of that circle so that you have a double row of cobbles. My reasoning for that is it gives a slightly wider and more substantial transition from the circle to the grassed area, which as it stands will have only one row of cobble between it and the grass.

As far as too much cobble in the backyard... I don't think you are anywhere near that point so I wouldn't worry about that. All your work looks great though. Very nice job.

BTW That rockery looks like it is going to be very challenging to set into a flat surface... yikes...those are not your average flagstones.

Cobbles

You could make it into a rock garden in the circle, with low growing creeping perrennials. If you run out of stone, the zen raked small pebble looks interesting too.

Great advice folks I have only just found this site recently it's fantastic. I started to lay a few of the rocks this afternoon in the small semi circle to see what they would look like, your right kivi they are challenging it's just field stone. Let me know what you think if you could pls

Too much stone for my taste. Needs green -- think plants -- and, if possible water -- at the very least a bird bath.

Here's what I did in my backyard:

Flagstone, Mexican beach pebbles, and broken pottery.

"Too much stone". I can't tell you how many times I have heard that over the past 35 years during the process of installing a landscape. What I have never heard is someone say that once everything, with all the plantings is done. It is such a typical response that I expect it to happen all the time.
Anyway, I think your fieldstone in the niche semi-circle will be good for that area. You should get a pretty good sense of working with that stone as paving. Let's see how you feel once your done in that spot.

Not sure of the location or position of the where that semi-circle you're working is. I envision a big urn there potted up with lot of plants, grasses, etc. I love what you're doing with the cobbles. Looks great. I agree you can never have too much stone! We don't have any flagstone on our property, just a lot of rounded ice age stuff and a lot of bedrock.

my last garden. I only had cobbles as edgers..previous owner wasn't nice enough to leave me some..lol.

Just found these examples to show you. Consider what you want to use it for. How visible would an intricate design be? Sometimes it's best to keep it simple :)

love love the work you have done! Do you have seating somewhere? have you considered round wooden dining table or black iron with a colorful umbrella that pops? pea gravel can nicely fill space underfoot. great job!
