Nicely asking for crayon truth: what about it made you buy it?

Might or might not be a minor point, but the rug is squishing the life out of the rose painting - do you think? It's more saturated and much bigger... what direction are you going? foyer too.

Love the rug. I would change out the chair on the left as well. I'd paint the living walls a med-dark grey and a more teal/turquoise tone like one from your other rug in the foyer. Artwork may need to be rethought or at least rearranged once you have the other elements in place.

keep the rug, will work well with the new cream couch and tan leather armchairs.

What made me buy it??? Kitchen re-do, led to dining room makeover which led to living room screaming for its turn to get some attention. Also finally succumbing to husband's long time request for a comfy chair led to the leather purchase...

in the sample color shown below which is next to the sofa fabric sample which comes with 2 decorator pillows ( sample fabric on right) chosen "on the fly" to coordinate with leather chair because they're only pillows that can easily be changed out. Phheew... I'm exhausted.

Art work will be fun to change out but I need much more of a direction in wall paint color than "med-dark grey and a more teal/turquoise tone" as suggested by B Shelley. ( I hope you Houzzers are still with me.)

Truthfully I do not like this hot pink rug with the tone of the wood floor. I also do not see it with the leather chair and fabric samples you have shown.

Personally I think these rugs aren't sophisticated enough for either room. Keep looking and get your furniture in the room, and the wall paper off the walls and then decide on a rug.

The comment about the tone of the wooden floor not agreeing with the hot pink rug resonated with me. I think that is what is bothering me but I wasn't able to figure it out on my own. I also appreciate the advice about waiting for the furniture to arrive and then choosing a rug. I have several weeks to wait for delivery so I'll go to a familiar quote -" I'll be baack!"

Brown chair and yellowish wood {?} seems to blend with the warm florals here. If peaches and cream doesn't thrill you, maybe a red?

Some pink rugs that are unexpected but delightful. I think you should keep the pink just have it more structured for the living room and more random for the dining room.

I think the rug you select for the living room should have a bit more structure while the dining room can be more abstract as the pattern will not be quite so obvious with the dining table over it. I like the dining room rug very very much, but the living room needs structure to relate to the dining room rug but complement it instead of competing. My opinion only, and again my opinion only. Your rug should feel like you hit the jackpot!

Lovely photos. 2nd is a "hip" office. 4 has subdued look and living room furniture and wood more like yours. [I love the mostly cream look of 1.]

I am packaging up my vibrant rug for return in between reading all the helpful comments! When I woke up this morning and surveyed the room... it actually made me sick to my stomach to see that monstrosity. I can't wait to return to this site when my furniture has arrived and I can make more strategic decisions regarding a rug - not without the guidance of my earnest Houzzer friends!

When you start looking again, I will suggest saving that hot pink sizzle for the new artwork, and letting the carpet choice support it.

I love the new rug, but it overpowers (in color) your floors. That color works better with your dark woods.

Because no 2 rooms are the same, I like the photos and houzzers showing them / we talk about what works... :)

It appears your style leans toward traditional? In that case you might want to go with a more traditional oriental rug that has bits of the warm colors you desire. A rug like that will become a focal point so you need to be sure 1 you live with it a long time; and 2. It doesn't fight with the artwork in the room. Use your artwork s a jumping off point. Take your fav. picture to the rug gallery with you along with some fabric samples from the furniture. Then you can pick the rug or a couple to try and see them with your furniture. Be patient and wait for the furniture to arrive first. And definitely plan to use that color elsewhere in the room, pillows, glass accessories, etc. But don't over do it. It's a very strong color and too much will overwhelm the room, in my opinion. A dove grey paint will cool the hot pink of the color, so I'd go with grey on the walls. Good luck.

I'm learning the virtues of patience. I don't know what I was thinking trying to get a rug in place before the actual furniture arrived and trying to work from pictures of fabric samples no less - not even the actual fabric! I've received wise words on this site though... even though there was some side dialogue going on!

As you can see, the rug pictured in the middle is in my dining room. The other two rugs which I do like, don't appear on the screen until I clicked to enlarge the picture.) I initially went for the vibrant pink rug for the living room to play off this dining room rug but- alas we all know how that turned out. The suggestion from sanlass to look for a traditional oriental rug is appreciated but I wanted to go in a different direction even though I do lean in the way of traditional ( in the living room anyway... my family room is mid-century modern.)

This is my family room (not contiguous with the living room) but the colors look really washed out in this picture.

Wow! You've been busy! I personally like the teal but either one would work. I think pink is better in small doses with your new furniture.

So glad you are returning it. Oriental or Persians are always great with any style of decor. Some have really vibrant colors too, but choose carefully if it has vibrant colors as you must be very good at design to work with those. Good luck & I like your choices in new furniture. Do remove the border paper, too.
