Basement bedroom

Oldest daughter's bedroom needs paint and new carpet. She's graduated from college and in her own place. So, time to give the room a facelift. I'm using all purple/eggplant bedding I already had and still like so I'm thinking a neutral on the walls. Carpet is a wreck and needs to be replaced. Dresser is green and I need to do something with it. Walls are currently pale green and room still has some of her stuff she brought home from college...but I'm not supposed to get rid of:)

Wallpaper could liven up the bed wall... how many windows are there? Need light? Maybe a wallpaper's sheen could help.

I'd go with a medium grey with a bit of blue to it. I actually like the dresser, and would just add some green throw pillows to the bed to help tie it in. I would paint the bed all white, the brass feels out of place. Some artwork above the bed would also help; perhaps 3 12x12"-ish shadow box type frames.

I'd get rid of the bookcase and bedside table. Buy a pair of unmatched but same height tables and a new headboard for a totally new look.

Try not to use the ceiling light - rarely flattering for most people! A lamp in each corner is best. I agree with getting some pattern in this room. The styles suggested are beautiful!

So helpful, thanks to all! The bed is brass and white....not a fan so that may go. the white bookshelf and nightstand can go too. I have some older night stands i can use. I agree about the overhead light. Will find some more lamps. Love all the help from you creative geniuses!!!

The green dresser is much bigger. I may need to move some things around and take that to another bedroom. I've considered painting the headboard.

Wood seems to ground the space / reason for your rug or wallpaper. [I don't like all that in the 2nd.] Last photo yeh the bed floats but with one neutral modern... well it's a ruby/wine brighter though. Just saying the "eggplant needs its vibrant healthy stem" in your room to look healthier! Are we ok that I say?

I wish I had those ceilings to work with in the white room but since it's a basement, I'm having to deal with less light.

    But you're "on it" :)

Curious how much you like your bed - even if painted a medium tone? hey why not paint it exactly the color of your spread, I mean it... like the Inner Richmond photo?

Paint - I wouldn't a light dull color like grey / ok if you had warm wood floors, but you are fine and have beige.

I like green very much. You'll keep your dresser here, and why not? Purples and greens go well... your art above it too. :)

Might not be room / placed on diagonal? round and feminine flowers /though near, not eggplant... ideas. Hope you don't mind, as I searched for earth tones, but as suggested and I think ok: a bit of brights too.... would love to see your art and its brights- Would this have vibe of art?

Children move out -- so you're welcome! Seems you like the cottage look / cause of photos you 'liked'....

I saw a black/white rug with one enlarged rose / that could bridge between / but in another color...

what about a quilt hung behind or on the bed, folded at bottom???

What about dresser and its art where nightstand is / and nightstand to left of bed?

An upholstered bench where dresser is. Lost the photo, but bedskirt had plum and green.
