Rotting phals

I am getting crown Rot very badly on some "rescued" orchids from a friend at a florist shop. They were once very lovely, but were neglected and got dust particles between the leaves. Although I reported in a loose mix, clay pots and water from the bottom, they are rotting.

It is happening so often I am recognizing the signs - great root growth, but leaves loose substance and stop growing. Then, bam, the top two or three leaves just lift off. I'm lucky as cinnamon has stopped most and I gave figured out that the papery remains of previous leaves have allowed moisture close to the core.

now, I have all twenty phals on cinnamon alert. There have been several close calls and possibly several bouts of sheer paranoia.

Here is one of the worst, a recent example. Unless it throws a keiki, it is probably toast.

Another one that is on its last leg. The yellow is not a good sign

The last one is a "success story ". It lost three leaves from the top - no question of rot, but very liberal application of cinnamon stopped it cold. Two small keiki are peeking but we're hard to capture

So, do I have a point? Yes! What can I do further to discourage this? Buy a fan for the guest bedroom? Soak em all in peroxide?

They get strong sun (SW exposure) and the roots/media get soaked for a few minutes every 2 weeks or so (if anything, I under water).
