You aren't stuck with trim you don't like, it can be painted.

Natural light is a great way to eliminate the blahs!! Remove those window shades, view your room in natural light, and then paint if you choose.

Anything can be painted now, they have paints for everything ,paint the trim and ceiling BM decorators white, remove those dark blinds add roman bamboo look shades ,here are some paint colors to inspire you, also add mor lighting and higher wattage light bulbs if needed
