Need help finding a dining table

I need a 48" diameter round extension table for my New York apartment. One room bleeds into the other, so essentially the living room and dining room are connected spaces. The living room is mid-century modern, with some rustic natural wood tables. I don't mind mixing it up or doing something interesting, just don't want it to look like a traditional boring pedestal table. What could I do that could compliment mid-century modern living room look and not make all look the same?!

I like the Saarinen dining table as an alternative to wood, but it's not extendable.

I love the idea of a tulip table. DWR (referenced above) carries the original, but you can get them for about half the price from other vendors. My fav is the round - 47". You could also try Craigslist in NYC as I have seen originals there many times.

I've seen knockoff versions of the Saarinen table in an extendable version. However, at the $2000 to $2500 price range, I'd be looking for a vintage extendable Danish modern round or oval table. You could pair any chairs with a great vintage table... midmod teak or rosewood, or go with tulip chairs if you like the look.
