You can get special brackets that allow you to put a framed piece of art over the television and swing it up and out of the way when you want to view the television. There are also televisions that look like mirrors until you turn them on. Otherwise, you could paint the fireplace wall in a dark colour so the television doesn't contrast much with it. Depending on the layout of that wall you might hang a picture grouping on both sides so the television looks like it's part of the grouping.

search this site for "hidden TV" and you'll see a host of possibilities. cheapest is probably a classic wardrobe cabinet that can be closed, but you could get custom panels over the fireplace to slide closed...
