I think most people prefer two sinks so you can get ready along side if needed. Also for resale value most people want two sinks. Creating the correct storage space under the sink (using drawers) and in wall storage can eliminate the need for a large counter top space and avoid all the clutter. one sink, not centered, but with mirror over both areas. much nicer not to lean in against a wet sink to do hair and make up. no hair in sink, and a good place to set down make up and hair dryer.

(to enable an activity that takes 2 mins (2 people brushing teeth at same time), the expense of double plumbing & etc. has never made a bit of sense to me, i have better things to do with the money.)

We have 5' vanity and definitely went with just one sink. I would much rather have the counter space. But our schedules don't overlap enough for any conflict with bathroom time.

Two sinks are better if you can have that extra one.

With only 5 feet of space, 2 sinks is going to be pretty crowded. Go with 1 sink, and divide the counter space and cabinet space between the two of you.
