Last summer I started some amaryllis from seed. They overwintered last year under florescent lights on a plant shelf in the cool basement. This past late-spring I planted them in a large pot on my patio which gets considerable sun. I was surprised to discover recently that one of the bulbs already has babies!

Can that be true in just one year's time?

I was thinking that when first frost approaches in 5-7 weeks (probably) I would repot all the yearling bulbs and keep them in a sunny, south-facing window for the winter. Is that the right thing to do? I am thinking that they probably aren't big enough to allow to go dormant.
