Clear stain looks yellow-orange!

We are building a house and our beautiful back porch was just stained with CLEAR oil stain and sealant. But it turned out to be yellow-orange! is there any way we can put another stain on top to cover the orange color without going too dark? We really wanted a natural look and are very disappointed. We were not there when the builder had it painted or we would have stopped them immediately. Here is the wood before and after:

It looks normal for a clear finish on softwood. If you want a lighter look, you would have to apply a semi-transparent stain with a white pigment (or whatever color of your choosing).

I just noticed the drips on the side of the can, you are right, it isn't a "water-clear" finish, it is slightly amber. IMO it probably enhances the new wood. and like I said before, if you really wanted a lightening/brightening effect on the wood, a white-ish pigment is the only thing.

I think it looks nice too - though I appreciate it was not what you were expecting.

Just about anything on raw wood will make it darker. If you take a piece of scrap wood, and wet it with mineral spirits (obviously no color at all), it will give you an idea what the same wood would look like with a clear finish.
