Induction cooktop?

I'm looking into putting an induction cooktop in our new house. I'm not the best cook and I prefer easy clean-up so I don't have an affinity with gas. I also have small children so the fact that they can't burn themselves on the cooktop is very appealing. My question is, are these types of cooktops easier to break? I worry about the buttons not working after awhile, instead of a sturdy knob. Does anyone have experience with these and can give me some advice?

I'm in love with my induction for all the reasons above! Will never have anything else! It has really reduced my cooking time which is great for our busy life!

You could consider an electric, non-induction glass cooktop with knobs.

Induction cooktops are the best choice!! They are fast, efficient, extremely easy to clean (even after 5 years of use, it looks like brand new, just swipe the top after use), safe and energy saving! I would never go back to the ceramic top I used to have. If you choose a good brand, you won't have any problems. Be aware that you would have to buy proper pans and kettles..

After seeing induction cooktops on every cooking segment on TV, I experimented with a single-"burner" ($100) and a couple of stainless steel pans. Changed my life! No more heating the kitchen, no more waiting tick-tock for the contents of the pan to melt or brown or boil or whatever. Induction heats to your specs in a flash, cooks evenly, cleans easily. Still have to watch the kids: pots and pans get just as hot as with gas or electric. That said, I think you'll love it!

I have an induction stove. I love it. Mine has knobs. So no touch for the stove top. The oven is a duel oven with press pad and a heating draw. I love it. Stove top cleans easy. Heats up quick. Cools down as soon as the pot it off. Can touch it right after u take the pot off,, yes it is hot but does not burn the skin. If you want to lower or raise the temp. It happens immediately.. Would never go back to electric or gas..
