Fireplace Suggestions Wanted

I have been working on our house for the past 3 years and am stumped by our fireplace. It is placed in the corner of our keeping room which looks into our kitchen. The room is painted a warm yellow and the cabinetry is white with a dark stain wipe. The room has many large windows and receives a lot of natural light. I'm not sure if I should paint and if so what color? I'm also planning to use the antique cypress corbels (pictured) for a mantel. Any suggestions?
