I really like the backsplash. In the photos, it looks like some cabinets are gray and some wood tone (espresso). It would be great to see a whole kitchen shot. Looks great!

Great update. The backsplash compliments the darker cabinets well.

careful with granite, expensive and going out of style ib some areas

All of my cabinets are grey, Benjamin Moore Timberwolf. No wood tones in my new kitchen!!!! The countertops are not granite, they are Quartz. All stainless appliances. My kitchen was original to my 1970s home. We are only the second owners of the home. We removed the wall between the kitchen and family room. We painted both rooms white and painted the fireplace in the family room the same color as the kitchen cabinets. All cabinets we custom handmade shaker cabinets.

Very nice, but I'd have put more counter space between the refrigerator and oven.

Looks wonderful! I have a 70's kitchen that I can't wait to remodel. I love the microwave on the shelf and the double ovens. Great job!

We had limited space between ovens and fridge, on left is basement door and on right is the laundry room, so any counter space we could get we were happy to
    get!

Looks great!! We just got gray cabinets also. We're only about halfway done. We'll also be doing the subway tile backsplash and quartz counters. What brand and style are your counters? They look like Silestone Lyra. I'm hoping to get Silestone Ariel. Will you be putting hardware on the cabinets, or will you leave them as is? We're going for drawer and cabinet pulls like these ones on Amazon: Satin Nickel Cabinet Hardware Euro Style Bar Handle Pull

Are you putting hardware on the cabinets?

This is a really lovely renovation. 70's kitchens are not the easiest to do, we are almost done with ours. Getting rid of soffits is probably the best decision to make with these spaces. We did that also and put in 42" wall cabinets. Your Quartz counters are quite nice. We chose granite, and I truly do love it. The stone we selected is called Red Montana and it goes beautifully with our new maple cabinets. The random veining and mineral inclusions bring so much interest to the space. When we were researching counter materials, in our area it was more
economical to have granite. The composites and quartz were much more
expensive and seemed to me to be a little more sensitive to the wear and
tear of an active kitchen. The new granite sealers need less frequent
applications and it is nearly indestructible! We plan to be in this home
for some time to come. We built it ourselves in 1972 and it's paid for.
The kitchen reno is for me and my needs and preferences, not for some
unknown buyer down the road. Who knows, maybe in 10-20 years, granite will be "popular" again! If not, the buyer can rip it out if they don't like it.

Isn't it just amazing when you can remove a wall and open the space up? We just did that with our home and are so glad we did. Enjoy your new kitchen!
