Is decorating with silk trees and plants a no-no?

I would like to incorpoate some greenery in my decor. I have a large spot that needs something tall and soft. I was thinking of a faux Japanese maple tree. Would this be cheesy?

Well, imo life is too short to fuss about the small stuff...

....If you like faux and it works for you, then go for it!

Half the time no-one can tell anyway (OK, so maybe don't go dumpster-diving for your silk plants....), and if they're rude enough to make inappropriate comments; well, they probably won't be invited back to your house anyway!

You could try a live potted plant on a pedestal. You get the height and the plant without the fake.

Yes!

The trick to live plants is to find something that works for your light, humidity and watering schedule. If you're not sure, buy them small and cheap and see what thrives, then if you want a big tree, you won't be making an expensive mistake.

Why not? There are some beautiful faux plants on the market. You will have to splurge though because the cheap ones do look cheap.
