Probably not. I work with a new home builder and we are charging $2300 just to move the electrical service from one side to the other side of a house - the buyers are flipping the floor plan so the electrical needs to lead up the other side of the driveway from where it was planned. And my builder does not add surcharges or premiums - that is actual cost of materials (copper) and labor.

The cost of running your above ground electric to underground varies in distance from pole to meter to stay at least 5' from proposed waters edge. It is a combined effort between electrician and power company. I have seen between $1200.00 to $2000.00.

Unfortunately, this is a common problem in the Houston area. The quotes of between $1200 - $2000 are pretty accurate. It is an unfortunate surprise for many. Check the gas line route as well. Usually it is just electrical, because the contractor hire by the builder determines the route and it is typically the shortest distance between the meter and the house. If you are building a home, be sure to tell the builder to keep ALL utilities in the easements

This issue should of been addressed up front by the homebuilder or pool builder if you had requested pool ready home. They may have not known the exact utility location at time of sale but maybe should have been a question to be addressed up front.

Dig it yourself.... When I built my pool I had to relocate the meter to the opposite side of the house... They gave me the required depth and the appropriate size pvc specs... I spent a weekend doing it.... The only cost I had was the wire (aluminum) and the cost to have an electrician help me pull the wire... Saved about $1500 ...
