House flies

We have had an unusually hot dry summer, the flies have been giving us fits. We have been religious about keeping surfaces clean and getting rid of food scraps but they just keep coming.

The numbers are finally dropping but they are still laying eggs in the crevices around the south east facing windows, the warmest part of the house. We have been wiping the areas down with vinegar, we don't want to use chemicals if we can help it, the next morning a new hatch appears. Any body got some ideas other than a nuke or waiting until the cold weather hits?
