Kitchen Renovation - Help! My Kitchen has four entryways

Looking to redesign my kitchen. Current layout is too spread out and it also requires a lot of cuts for the granite. Ideally we would like something that uses the space better. Open layout is fine but we need to keep supporting beams at corners. The orange squares are parts where the wall does not reach the ceiling (you can see through). It's about 8 inches above the countertop. Also stove would be difficult to move but the sink can probably be moved. Thanks!

Consider a redistribution of the cabinets. An elongated center island will serve as a multi-purpose task area as well as providing informal seating. Extending it into the dining room helps it function as a buffet or even expanded seating for larger parties. Place the refrigerator into a recess in the wall to maximize circulation area in front of it as well as to better align it with the countertops. Use the wall opposite for built-in, high-density pantry cabinets. This concept also works where a large slab of stone can be used on the island's top and can contrast in color or material with the other surfaces in the kitchen.

Depending on how much work you want to do one option is to put a small island in the middle. The island could be just granite top or with a small sink. Make sure there is enough space all around (3'-4" or so in between the counters). The island could have hanging lights as well.

You definitely have a difficult kitchen layout with all of those counters. My advise is to have a professional kitchen designer help with the layout. If you are in the Southern California area, we have some ideas to completely rework your kitchen. Not knowing your budget, it is hard to suggest moving the entire contents of your kitchen around. With our experience, to make this kitchen function correctly, you should think about moving the refrigerator first. It is the largest and hardest appliance to work around with your open concept floor plan.

Thanks for comments! Any advice on easy rearrangements (no walls down or appliances moving) that can minimize the amount of granite cuts?

what about taking the walls on sink and range side all the way to ceiling (eliminate pas thrus) shorten length of walls into dining room to create more of a galley style kitchen with a functional island. Than you could probaly move fridge on range or sink wall & create a message or desk area where fridge area is currantly.

I like Archstudio's idea. I'd take the counters/cabinets out that run perpendicular to the sink and stove. Then, put in a nice island that slides into the dining room a little.

I think you have plenty of inexpensive options: try to re-arrange fridge and stove on the same wall so the layout becomes more functional and where you are currently showing the fridge make that area pantry/storage, you might even have room for a small island on wheels, it just depends on your preference and needs.

We also have 4 doors in our kitchen. Kitchen designer from Home Depot suggested to move sink, fridge, dishwasher & oven. I'm wondering if it will look better - will post before & after pictures when completed.

What is your fear of 'granite cuts'? Seams should not be an issue for cost or quality with a qualified fabricator.

I also like the idea of the center island and the larger opening into the dining room. I think you should turn the fridge area into pantry cabinets, keep the stove where it is and place the refrigerator to the right of it with a cabinet inbetween.
