What happens when the weather decides to fluctuate to highs of 105 to highs of 76, on and off, with every variance in between?

Today is as nice as a spring day. Just a few days ago was 105. In a few days, the weather looks to be 95-96 highs. And we keep doing this.

The lows have been more constant, between 58-65 or so.

I'm not worried about my peppers as they've all produced enough to make it worthwhile, despite everything being planted in June. The tomatoes, on the other hand, dropped lots of blossoms through previous heat waves and now have set a good number of fruit, some smaller and some larger.

I had two large Black Krim (interesting flavor....) and now, these three are my first Cherokee Purples to be ready to at least get off the plant.

But given how late I planted and this severe weather fluctuation, I'm guessing the remainder of the fruit will have trouble ripening, is that right?

I am considering snipping off the 40-50 flowers at the top of each plant. There isn't enough time, I think, and hopefully that speeds the fruit along.
