No. If anything it's the old it girl. I love copper, especially some of the DIY copper counters (where are you circuspeanut?), but I have brass in my house already. I'm not going there.

Hmm, we had copper pot racks in our last ktichen--circa 2005-ish. Couldn't find copper pulls we could afford so I used oil rubbed bronze. I like copper.

The hinges on our white cabinets are copper (came with the house) but the knobs (mine) are brushed nickel. I need to find some copper knobs that I like. If copper is becoming more popular, it might be easier to find them!

Just saw WS has copper KA mixers. Oh- they would look great in my kitchen and Poohpup - but not going to cave!

I agree with Eam44...if anything it is the old girl. Polished copper was big in the mid to late 90s. In my mid-20s' I had a white kitchen with wood tops, polished copper accents mixed with red geraniums planted at the window and turquoise apron and towels...it was the start of my love for vintage look kitchens. It was so cute.

Then aged copper was popular in the late 90's to mid 2000's.

I haven't had anyone ask me for copper anything in a long time.

I love old copper and have quite a bit of it, from sauce pans to stock pots. Plus a set or two of old copper measuring cups. ;-)

but, I let mine patina and never polish it. Sometimes I cook something that polishes parts of it, but it reverts pretty quickly.

so, I love the idea of copper making a come-back. :-)

It is definitely getting a lot of press lately. A whole piece devoted to copper in the latest MS Living magazine & another current one I subscribe to - maybe Oprah..

My DS & DIL live in Copenhagen & have a copper hearth & a striking vintage Danish copper light fixture. The warm glow of the metal looks nice against all the white & light walls & floors.

I have the big copper boiler & lid that belonged to my great grandmother. Another case of "everything old is new again" :)

I like copper but in small doses as others have said. It's a very warm color. Unless you have air conditioning on all summer in the kitchen, I'd get uncomfortably warm just looking at it.

I did this kitchen with copper island hood back in my early years....circa 1998. I am currently retrofitting this kitchen with a new Sub-zero and integrated dishwasher. For being almost 20 years old, I was shocked and happy to see how well it had held up over the years.

Our last house had the copper (well, copper-look) hood...and cooktop, and oven, and dishwasher. The original refrigerator probably was, too. Looked great with the gold-flecked countertops. The neighbors had turquoise appliances. It was in the neighborhood I grew up in, too, in the 60s, and I remember the copper accessories and decor in everyone's homes. Mom still has copper jello molds in the cupboard, a copper fondue set, and coffee set. Maybe it's time to bring it all out into the light and let it gleam?

crl, I was picking out hardware for our build at that time and bought copper knobs for the laundry room.

I've always loved copper. Had a large copper pipe handrail in our last house. Did copper panels on our fridge instead of panels. Sinks and faucet also.

On our build (2006), we have copper used on the interior and exterior: gutters, downspouts, cupola, flashing, lights, range hood, sliding panels to hide the TV, backsplash in laundry room and pine hutch, powder room ceiling, laundry room and coffee station sinks and faucets. Even our chimney exterior is clad in copper with a copper chimney cap. A few interior light fixtures have copper accents. The only accessories I have that are copper is a set of vintage measuring cups, birdhouse roofs, hummingbird feeder... probably forgetting something, but it's all vintage. During our build, our builder joked the price of a penny had gone up to two cents because I used so much copper in the house.

We are in the process of buying a lakehouse and I will incorporate copper in to it as well.

Copper has always been a niche for kitchen design and will remain that way.

Beside, its too expensive now to gain mass appeal.

Yes. I think warm metals are coming back in general. Rose gold, brushed/natural brass, etc.

Great if does come back. I've always loved copper and my island lights are copper. I think the copper and stainless look good together especially on the kitchen aid mixer. I'd buy one, but I don't bake. lol

@bpathome: I saw a similar display at W&S. They had quite a collection of Ruffoni and Mauviel copper near it. They've always had copper, but not every store had it on display. Even then, they only stock the thinner, less expensive versions. They have much more online.

I do believe the design mavens are pushing the warmer metals. And copper in these usages usually is lacquered and/or brushed, and I think does not have the same maintenance issues as shiny bare cookware (as I reach for my CopperBrill once again)

I'll need to get my old copper bottom Revere Ware out and polish it up ;)

Dacor is introducing "Copper" "Rose Gold" and "Gunmetal" this year.

This is Rose Gold, so I don't know what Copper Looks like, browner?

It was identified as Rose Gold, but I found another picture of a Dacor range that looks like brass-bronze, and I would think that is actually the rose gold, not this. The information out there is so spotty that I wonder if it's actually going to happen.
  

Copper is becoming scarce, I've heard. Probably going to be pretty pricey if folks are going to start using lots of it in their kitchens.

Amazes me the amount of lipstick people will put on pigs just so they can turn around and use part of it to tell people they now have a silk purse.

Our old 1958 kitchen was similarly outfitted, but it wasn't real copper, I'm fairly certain, just the color. No more than the almond appliances were made out of almonds. It's just a color, xedos. That's all, it's just fashion.

These will be fine for people who want something a little different and will be happy to keep it instead of worrying that it's dated in 5 years. I think these could look nicer with some wood finishes that white black or stainless.

I LOVE copper! But it's a metal I like in small doses, as accents. I also have my grandmother's copper boiler. It sits in my office with a glass top with a collection of my favorite childhood books inside.

Glad you like it, bpathome. It's a fun coffee table. We used to keep it by the fireplace. I bent some styrofoam sheets to fit around the sides and bottom and then glued cloth to them before inserting them inside. We used it for kindling for the fireplace. It worked and looked nice but I started noticing that the top edge was getting dinged with a few dents from when we loaded the kindling. I toyed with the idea of making a bumper stuffed with batting or a thin tube of styrofoam but I didn't have material to match what I had used previously and was too lazy. So I moved it and re-purposed it.

To The Kitchen Place--what is that beautiful dishwasher you are getting rid of in that beautiful 1998 kitchen!!!!!?????

BTW, I'm so sick & tired of stainless steel, I'll welcome just about anything that will offer some hint of color.

I've been looking at faucets and have seen a few in rose gold.

Love copper. It really warms up a space. We have copper ceilings, a copper sink and copper hardware.

Well, finally something I scrounged out of a free box at a garage sale will be in fashion again. I got 5 copper sauce and frying pans and have bought quite a few more and they are hanging on a pot rack over my island.

If you wait long enough most anything will come back in style again.

Gardenerlori, the free copper pots were a find! My local FB Market (Craigslist for the insular lol) has had copper pots but not for free, and they are sold in minutes. and we are a small group!

I think copper will only trend if the mftrs decide on something interchangeable, so that you could mix your appliance mftrs like you can for stainless, white and black. So long as each is doing their own thing, it won't get widespead acceptance. We know that the same mftr that makes a great stove oftentimes doesn't make a DW you would want, even when they try to incentivize you to buy an entire kitchen by the same mftr. I think that the chances of the mftrs agreeing on a copper color is just about zero. I really wish that stoves had a panel front like some DWs and fridges so that you could just do your kitchen in the color or pattern that you wanted....now that would be a nice trend.
