I grow in containers and I'll plunge them in as well, but I'll let others in your area that grow in the ground give you advise..

I'm sure if you dig them up and keep the soil around the root ball and place into a large container it will be fine. You can always bareroot and store like others do in Texas.. Your winters are much shorter than mine,.

Thank you! These are cuttings from a tree I grew from a little cutting I brought back from Hawaii years ago, so they are very special to me! I think once they come up I will keep them in containers and try plunging them- which I've never done before but it makes a lot of sense! Thanks again!!

I wouldn't worry too much about rooting hormone as those look fairly well established and its almost too late for us to fertilize at this time of year. You could dig them up and place in containers for the winter season like you said. I generally wait until Thanksgiving before digging up plants.

Ok, thank you for your advice! I will wait until it's a bit cooler and winter store them with the rest. And as for the boat, it was the dig up the plumerias to access the side yard or have it hang out in the driveway, so neither choice was ideal but what can you do, right?
