Electronic Ignition on “Old
Keep Sake Point/Condenser Engines” had advantages in the early 80s for me and
now to some IMO. Due to oil blow-by
contaminating points killing or reducing fire, causing “Excessive Work”. Once I installed the Briggs & Stratton
Electronic Kits, Engines were fine until some real wear (valves, cylinder, crank
or Etc).

The mild blow-by contaminating
the points was not an issue since the electronic module replaced the point’s
job. We had repairs to most needs or
damages. Our (yard work) quality of
engines usually dictated minor repairs.
Such as, lapping and adjusting valves, servicing the ignition, Etc... Usually scrapping was before any major work (as
boring cylinders or any crank work).

It was simple to install and
cheap then and Youtubes basically shows the same now. I had plans to add electronic ignition to a
mid 70s Poulan chainsaw but a wrist pin keeper failed and ruined the cylinder
before the project. Electronic Ignition
has been a Time Saver IMO due to old ignition system requiring the most service
compared to other engine components. The
Good Old Days!!!
