Yes, I work 2 jobs. During the day, I am an IS manager as my full-time job. Then a few nights per week, I teach at a local college.

I am a retired teacher, but I quilted even when I was working. DH & I are both really active in our Lions Club - volunteering 2-3 days a week and we travel quite a bit, but quilting is my "Sanity pill"!!! Even when I was working, I would try to get into my sewing room every day or so and make one square, or cut parts of a quilt.

Yes, I work as an HR Director and am currently counting down the months to retirement! Quilting allows me to escape and some days I really need to escape into my fabric stash.!!! Looking forward to joining the retired quilters club!

kudos to Jen...how she handles four kids, and home schools ....I get tired thinking about it...and Jackie with not one but two jobs....and all produce fabulous quilts on top of everything else!

I retired from a full time job in commercial real estate development and management last November after 42 years with the same company. I love that I can now spend more time quilting, playing golf and traveling.

I work full-time as well. I just started a new schedule of 4 10-hour days and 3 days off. So I'm spending my first "bonus" day cleaning the house! LOL

I retired out of necessity to become a caregiver after many years of engineering in the tool business. Quilting became the only thing I could do and stay at home to still maintain my sanity. After my Uncle's death, I was free to travel and do lots of other things as well as quilt. I quilt all the time in one form or another. I'm a designer by trade and see quilt designs everywhere so I have four or five quilts in my head at all times.

I work on-call for a hospital and a local business. Sometimes I work a lot, sometimes I go a while and don't work at all. I made some small quilts many years ago, but started quilting more when my oldest was born in 1983. Like my work my inspiration comes and goes.

I guess I am retired!! But like most of us, I still have house and garden chores, so there is always some "work" to do. But at my own pace. I also volunteer one day a week at our Church library.

And like grammyp, the quilting bug comes and goes. Right now, it has gone south. Hope it returns before spring.

I retired in 2001 from teaching. Despite our travel plans they were short lived while we tended to family members aging. Quilting helped as did other hobbies. We're traveling again, but I've finally gotten more involved in quilting this past year and I'm having fun. Even retired responsibilities sometimes get in the way of quilting! I started taking quilt workshops again and they really pushed my interest.

I'm retired.......seems like I made more quilts when I was working, but now I give more away.........and I don't have to get up early. :-)

I retired in October 2011. I agree with Sharon, I made more quilts when I was working. Since we moved to be near our daughter and her family, I am not making as many quilts either. I have been inspired to finish some of my old UFOs and to work from my stash.

My first 'real' job was working for the State of Vermont, Bureau of Laboratories - office and pretty boring. We moved to Florida LONG time ago and I was home with small children until our son was four, then I went back into teaching, but not for long - only a few years...I loved the kids but couldn't handle the abuse I saw and was unable to do anything about! A friend asked me to 'help' her with her wallpapering business...I worked with her a few years and then she injured her back and quit...told me to just keep on...so I did. After 30 years of hanging wallpaper, a little painting and some design work, the markets slumped and I decided to simply retire. I don't miss dragging around 50 # buckets of paste, climbing ladders and loading and unloading my truck twice a day. (and I wonder why my bones all hurt!! hahahaa). But, I DO miss the many wonderful people I worked for over all those years who let me into their beautiful homes and allowed me to make them even more beautiful. Quilting is the perfect 'outlet' for me...the colors, the patterns, textures.....I'm a textile junkie, be it paper or fabric! Right now I'm helping my daughter with her 3 kids whose daddy just passed away in June, and my hubby and I are primary caregivers for his 93 year old beautiful mom. Another passion is gardening, but that has had to be put on the back burner over the last many months due to the illness of my son in law and an illness with G'ma. Soon, tho....I'll be back gardening in the daytime....quilting when it's too dark. So, yes. I'm retired...and I love the freedom for family, friends, and fun!

Still working, but only 32 hrs a week (seems like more!). My other "job" is taxi mom for all my kids after school activities. My quilting has taken a back seat lately, but I'm hoping things are going to settle down after my recent divorce so I can get back in the swing of it.

I retired last October. I have been quilting for around 25 years. I also make totes and gifts for friends. I have so many projects I want to start! My sister got me started. When she passed away I got all her material (she had lots!) and I am still using it. I just finished a quilt in her memory. I should post a picture! I also have a long arm machine now and just love the whole process. I have one quilt on the long arm for my husband and two lap quilts that I am going to donate to hospice.
