deciding between tongue and groove or beadboard for porch ceilings

I'm trying to decide between beadboard or tongue and groove for the outdoor porch ceilings. Would like input.

I found pictures of ceilings on Pinterest both painted, clear and stained, I plan on using a wider board maybe 10 inch and either whitewash or paint it a light pale blue for my country kitchen, the smaller boards seem to make the ceiling feel closed in.

We just chose regular 4" planks instead of beadboard, and painted them white. I like it a lot and am happy with what we did. It's just a bit less detailed or fussy - simpler, which I like.

Our builder wanted us to use tongue and groove but we opted for 4" boards that are finished with a clear coat.

We are considered Tongue and Groove as well for Back Porch ceiling and On Front Porch accent wall. Contractor gave us Spruce, Pine, Cedar as options. Any recommendations? Thanks.

We used pine tongue and groove. We painted it white, and I like it!

I did a screened porch recently, and sheathed the inside ceiling with 1/2” plywood for structural rigidity. Using that base, I skinned it with white beadboard. It holds up great, even in New England’s damp climate.
