Thank you adaorand from Upstate NY. If you are ever in the Atlanta area, send me a note. The last two months are the best (showiest) so they are in their element right now. Even Silver Dollar has turned pink from the cooler weather I suspect. I cannot post a photo from IE lately so I will hop over to Firefox and do it there.

Yay, that worked. Even a big cane I've had for years is finally blooming this year (I guess I quit cutting on it for everybody and it has some size to bloom now).

When I said last two months I meant the last two months of growing weather for us which is September and October. Sorry for any confusion.

my tuberous begonias are doing better now too and most are blooming! am so grateful because I bought quite a few from California and wanted to see what they looked like in bloom! Finally they are gorgeous!!!

Show us some photos of your tuberous begonias maryjozone5. Loved seeing some huge tuberous at the LA and SF conventions in the past. Well looks like I cannot post photos now - in IE or Firefox. GRRR! So I can post if I edit - makes no sense.

I think these were all grown by one man - Paul Carlisle if I remember correctly.

well, I have low expectations of my plants!! My gorgeous and this person's gorgeous are 2 entirely different things!! These pics are so cool! I just love tuberous begonias because they can be such pretty colors and such full flowers etc! I would love to go to a tuberous begonia show like this! I live in Iowa and we don't have any around here. I first developed an interest from the non-stop hanging baskets. My mom loves them and we get her 3 every year for her picture window. I started saving her tubers and then others. Then a few years ago I ordered some from a nursery. Then last year I ordered a bunch (one of many different kinds) from a place in California. I stressed a bunch of them by letting them dry out when under lights but even some of those are now blooming. I am getting to see some of those special kinds that I had only seen pictures of. I have only a few blooms on some but am grateful for that. Several of them had a good amount of blooms and were so pretty. I will have to figure out how to get a picture or 2 on here though. I've never done that. Probably by the time I get to it, it will freeze!!

I love/loved tuberous begonias. I had to realize that they aren't going to do well (and more like an annual) in Atlanta so I try them from time to time but don't expect much since they usually disappoint. I envy anyone who can grow them. There is a guy in England who posts some gorgeous tuberous on Planet Begonia on FB. If you get a chance give it a look.

thanks for the tip about Planet begonia! I definitely have to treat mine as annuals- bring in the tubers and store them till Feb or March when I start them under lights in the basement. Your rex begonias are beautiful!

I wasn't as fortunate as you in saving the tubers so mine were definitely annuals. If you can save the tubers, then they will get bigger as the years roll by with more stems and flowers.
