pull-out trash beneath sink?

Does anyone have a pull-out trash beneath their sink? What size is it? Any guidance on making sure it will fit without having the sink in place yet?

    I do. Here's a pic of mine.

It's a Rev-a-Shelf 4WCSC-1835DM-2. My sink has an offset drain so the garbage disposal is on the right, couldn't have made this work if my sink had a center drain.

I have 2 of these units in my kitchen. The other one, slightly larger, is across the way in the island. I love having receptacles for garbage, glass recycling (behind garbage), mixed recycling and returnables!

I did a rough estimate by subtracting the thickness of the counter, the exterior depth of the sink and the depth of a drawer bottom from the interior height of a cabinet (same cab maker made our bathroom cabs but you should also be able to get these measurements from your cab maker and/or GC). I was pretty sure there was enough room but since my GC has the same sink, I asked him to measure the distance from the bottom of his sink to the floor of his cabinet (I was within 1/2"). I just measured: we have 1 1/4" to spare between garbage can and sink bottom so even if my sink were up to an inch deeper, we would have been fine.

lisa_a oh my gosh - another glimpse of that kitchen..........makes me want to print the puzzle pieces out. :D

OP: I don't but I was curious as I think it would be a great use of space!

I have one under a silgranit supersingle with the offset drain. It's the largest size bin - 50 gal? No problem. The pullout is floor mounted.

Thanks all. My sink does NOT have an offset drain so I'm concerned. Is there anyone who has a center drain with a pull-out trash? I'd only need one bin, as I have a double pull-out elsewhere in my plan.

Found an old thread that may help. Go to Morton5's post with photos in Under sink trash pullout? to see his/her pull-out trash under a sink with a center drain. Also, make sure your plumber knows that you want to put a trash pull-out under the sink so that he/she can route the plumbing so that it doesn't interfere with the pull-out.

lisa_a, thank you so much. My husband is going to be the plumber for the sink so I'll have to ask him if he can move the plumbing to the side!

If the sink isn't installed yet, can you exchange it for a sink with an offset drain? That seems easier that making your plumbing move to the side. What size is your sink? Typically the offset drains are in sinks that are 36" widths (maybe there are some 33" out there with offset drains, but it's 36" width that are more common to have them).

sahmmy_gw, I'm using a vintage sink so there's nowhere to return it to (and I'm pretty attached to it anyway!). But it does sound like for those who might find this thread in the future, choosing a sink with an offset drain makes it much easier to have a pull-out trash underneath.

My sink is flanked by stacked dishdrawers on the right and a pull-out with two bins on the left.
