Oh no! I haven't seen any here yet, but have been awaiting their arrival. With it being the worst caterpillar year in ages at our place this year, I've been expecting them. They're about the only usual garden/field/lanscape pest type caterpillar that I haven't already seen this year. Right now, at our place, they'll have to battle the grasshoppers for control of anything/everything that is green.

We didn't get nearly as much rain as you have in recent weeks, Robert, so maybe we still are too dry over here to attract them. I can tolerate them out in the fields, but don't like having them crawling on the house and porch.

I'm seeing the effects now. they are growing and eating more.

Are birds or anything else showing up and eating the armyworms? I hope they aren't going to strip your pastures bare.

I don't see any extra birds. They could get fat and lazy on grass hoppers and caterpillars.

I saw very few grasshoppers this year, but I am seeing lots of army worms, and the web worms are terrible.

Wheat fields are full of them. Pulled the sprayers out hooked up ans started spraying this afternoon. Hope this wet cold weather coming in helps.

I didn't get many grasshoppers until pretty late in August when we were on the verge of hitting Severe Drought (we only stayed in it a week or two). We're back in Moderate Drought now after receiving 1.2" of rain within a 2-week period, but still have plenty of hoppers invading the yard and garden from the rangeland that's drying up. Usually by now their population has dropped a lot, but we've stayed too hot in September so we still have plenty.

The armyworms haven't found us yet and I've only seen webworms on 1 tree.
