Thanks Andrena! They are from a loca courthouse! They were used in jury deliberation! They had 12. Me and another lady split 6 each for a steal. I love both of the tables you posted! Will have to look around.

Okay. Thanks! I do really appreciate this light. This room is really awkward (flow of traffic wise)... And I don't want anything too big. I was considering hanging a pendant over the island countertop. My kids do their homework there and it's where we talk every morning while they eat breakfast and there's just no lighting there and typically it's dark while they're eating. The fan in the kitchen is so bright, and the light over the range is too dim.

What at do you think flair? It's a very useful space. We spend much of our time at that island countertop. It serves a lot of purposes.

Please ignore my husband, ha! He thinks I'm so ridiculous. (But guess who's decorating this house?!)

Your table looks too small for those chairs. If it is a 48" diameter top, then you really need a 60" top.

@nancy, I'm not sure if the table is too small. The pedestal legs come out so I can't push them in, but that may be the case. Even if it is a little small, I can't squeeze that size in this area. I just have to make due with what I've got right now and when we buy our next house.... Make sure I have enough room for a bigger (nicer) table.

I know your space is mall but those chairs are awesome and must be used...can we get a look at your living room...maybe we could help you set up a living dining combo...and then you could use something smaller in your current space for traffic flow

@Brandi, here are some shots of my living room. I have a thread somewhere on here, but I was faster to shoot. I am still arranging the LR/decorating. As I'm buying pieces, things keep shifting around. The brown couch will be sold, I want to use my other two green chairs with a table between either facing the fireplace or in front of the window. modern couch to long wall and I'm hoping to get a big ovwrsized chair and ottoman for in front of the window. (If I put the accent chairs facing the fireplace).

The chairs look like a great score! The table top matches the arms so nicely. I'd save the table top, replace the base with a slight higher and slimmer one. Black would be nice. Something like this ...

I will keep looking. I am going to use flair lighting's last light suggestion. So, that's a simple white. Gives an interest. I have a feeling I am going to have to change wall color. Suggestions? My house is muted neutral grays. (Very light.) chair rail will come down.... And cabinets will eventually be white.

True, that those bright blues could detract from the chairs a bit. Pattern of some kind in tinted neutrals, suggested.

ok, what are you willing to invest in lighting for this space. the fan is on which means you use it, so you might not want to loose it. also where would you draw power for the pendants... all and all you need light.

That's beautiful but too busy for me. I like clean lines. Drum shades. Flair lighting posted a faceted one. I'm gonna have to swag it over the table.

@flair... There are two fans in this room. The one in front of the back doors will be removed and I'm hoping to swag over from there. I have seen a double swag from one power source to two different points. I just don't know if I'm crazy about a chain. If I could hide it. The second fan is by the oven (and it comes in handy) but I don't know if I want to put a fan again, but my husband does. The little room gets so hot.

Thats $100 price range for the pendant you posted is right up my alley. I'd like a cheaper but modern one for over the island. (Like the stock pendants I see at Lowe's on a shelf) but maybe nothing over $40.

We we will address the fan in the kitchen when we overhaul this upcoming year. But to answer your question, it's humid where we live and fans in every room are a necessity of you MELT.

ok, then yes you can tap into the power but its all or nothing then. is there a plug under the cabinet we could use? ... im serious. are you taking the fan out of the dining side then? if so arent you going to melt? again you could swag off a floor plug and add a inline switch. add a light to the bottom of that fan. I know a lot of tricks to make swags look really clean.

As long as we have the fan in the kitchen.... That's okay. It still will keep air moving.

i like inline switches. Reminds me of my grandmother's hanging pendants over her reading chair. I have a plug on the back wall by the dining room table. And I don't mind swagging off a floor plug. But what about the pendants? From under the cabs?
