Looks like what's called 'dove weed' here...

All suggestions above = members of Commelinaceae. I think Carol nailed it, Murdannia nudiflora. So excited, I've hoped to spot this plant for years!

I have the same growing all over my yard in n florida. Very thick, like a carpet. Actually looks quite better than the bahia grass. It seems to be taking over.

Same here. It popped up all over at once next to our driveway and is gradually spreading into other areas. It does make a nice green groundcover, but I'm wondering if it dies back in winter?

IDK but I wish it would come to my yard. None of the weeds posing as grasses in my yard make pretty purple flowers.

Here it came up when we were getting lots of rain daily. I suspect hubby dumped out a bag of grass clippings that contained seeds. I have a feeling if you scatter seeds and water, it will appear...
