Where is "here"? And do you or your proposed co-op partners have experience in growing and selling plants? Are there other retail nurseries or box stores in the area that would offer competition?

You've got a pretty substantial fixed expense nut to crack each month. How to you plan to meet those costs in winter when sales are low?

Do you mean garden center or nursery.....the two mean different things to me, but perhaps not to everyone.

It is a TINY garden center in the middle of the town maybe 100m2. There are no other nurseries here, but big box stores. At least one person has a huge experience, but we need more people. This art coop started with 12 members and I think this is a good figure to start with. Now they are 32 members, charge $45 per spot and one day of selling per month.

I think you can't compete with the big box stores you must offer something different altogether.

$500 a week seems too intense. You have to take that off the top of your income. Are there really that many customers to make it work?

We are in Australia, everything is much more expensive than over in the US. A normal small plant for example thyme sells for $6. Still I think we could not start before having at least 12 working members, better more. We would have to have bare rooted fruit trees. But still the winter is a pain. I believe there are plenty of herbs which are planted in winter, but I must find them and I would have to educate people about them. The guy with the cut herbs would just do fine in winter and one lady is making creams and lotions.

Flowering plants always sold the best for me and herbs.
