Since the two window areas are so close I'd consider just using another pair of the same gold panels. Shop for similar/matching pillows when you have the new panels in hand so you can match them. May I suggest you lower the wall arrangement about half the distance to the sofa back and keep the bottom of all the pieces in a straight line? How about some more color in the rug? The one you have looks like it would be super comfy underfoot in a bedroom.

I never thought of that with the display behind the couch, that's a good idea! As for the curtains, I currently have brown panels up, but the space is close and there are deck doors and a kitchen window so I have a hard time figuring out how to make all windows work together.

I have to keep the rug for now, my idea is to have the big things neutral and accessorize with color, this way I'm not locked in to a certain design---I like to change it up periodically. Plus I had a hard time finding a neutral rug:) I was thinking of adding pops of blues, greens and golds in the pillows--but how do I tie it all together with curtains in such a close space?
Would a grey panel work in the other windows? I was also thinking a beige chevron print panel? But then what to do with the kitchen window---maybe a roman shade?? But what color/pattern??

I like the whole look of the mercury glass and I added the color I'd like to incorporate in the pictures below.

I LOVE grey, just not sure how I can make it work in here.

I agree that the wall shelves and pictures need to be lowered, but I don't think they have to be level. Search "gallery walls" and see how others have done theirs. Some are very symmetrical and others aren't at all. I also think I would put up the same panels in your kitchen/dining space and then do a gold toned bamboo type roman blind over the kitchen sink, as it will be in the same color family. Add pops of color with pillows and kitchen accessories and maybe even paint an end table so add some color. Gray goes with everything, ( according to HGTV's David Bromstad), so I think you could paint your walls a soft gray. Try to find a piece of artwork that has all your colors in it, or at least a few. I think i would consider painting your shelves white to match the woodwork, or black to your other black accessories. What do the rest of you think of my ideas? i am not a professional and don't pretend to know it all! Good luck!
