I think she is putting in a new kitchen so the washer will be integrated much like a DW as for table I think inthis small space I would try to design the kitchen with a bar to seat 4 gain some storage and forget the table get a good sized kitchen instead. Sort of like this kitchen but of course fitting your space.

I think placing the table horizontally works for the space because it creates a boundary between the kitchen and living room.

The table as is, would work best. When you turn it around, you would have to pull away from the wall to allow for chairs, and comfortable seating. Also, when using the table the chairs would pull out into your walkway. This way, the chairs, when pulled out do not have an effect on your space, and you have a visually clean walkway. Simplistic way is to try it and pull out the chairs with people in it (or fake it).
