Nutsedge Gone Wild!

I live in the deep south and have a fairly large yard. Until this extremely hot and dry summer, I have controlled weeds pretty well. Now my flowerbeds are thick with what we call cocoa grass. I have used Sedgehammer on selected areas, but I need suggestions on eliminating the cocoa grass without damaging desirable plants. Although it is very gratifying to dig up the "nut" that branches out to another nut, then another, it is simply too time consuming, not to mention overwhelming.
