Verticillata Peduncles :).

Hi everyone,

Here are two quick shots of my H. verticillata peduncles that developed this summer! The larger one looks like it may be budding up. I have had this plant for 5 years and this will be the first time it has bloomed for me. When I first got it, it had peduncles and developed buds shortly after getting it, but they blasted. Something happened that I was reduced to this single cutting, but I am very happy to see peduncles again!

Larger peduncle with small buds :).

    Do you have a flashlight?

Yes I do. It probably wouldn't help. The house is terrible for indoor photos lol.

Yay for active penducles! I check mine everyday and swear they're going to bloom but alas...nothing yet. 5 years is a long time to wait! Post a pic when they bloom. :)

I check on mine every few days, good thing too because it needed water. But no flowers. Too bad I don't have a microruler.

My Mathilde developed a peduncle this summer and I am anxiously awaiting for buds on it, as well as Nikki's lone peduncle she produced, too.

I experimented this summer and cloned a few broken pieces that had penducles on it. I thought for sure they wouldn't take, but sure enough they are going strong and I am going to do the Toyota jump if one of them blooms any time soon.

I think I see little bubbles emerging on my serpens peduncles. Could it really be!?

If you penducle, they will come. ;)

Seriously tho, sometimes I blow an eyeball out straining to see if one is about to bud.

I didn't realize that they'd be so tiny!

I was expecting candy flowers not microscopic sugar crystals!

What the peduncle has become! It's gotten longer and there are definitely buds on it! :)

Verticillata is one of my favorites for fragrance, so you will not be disappointed!

Denise, I can't wait to smell the flowers!

Marco, thank you. I hope the buds don't blast on me. I read verticillata is a strong, reliable bloomer, so I have no worries.

YAY FOR FLOWERS! Hurry up, hurry up...mine are basically torturing me right now. Whomever blooms first gets a prize! ;)

The wait is unbearable sometimes. Ooh, what kind of prize? ;)

Hahahah, I have been watching buds form on two peduncles on my Bella for what seems like weeks now, I can finally see them without straining! I check my obscura's peduncle all the time, even though it is less than a year old, just in case. Then there are the 8 peduncles with varying degrees of buds on my multiflora.... And the constant, whispered plea... Don't blast don't blast don't blast...

Good luck, here's to loads of flowers for everyone!

Brad and I have a bet going, first penducle to bloom gets their pic of cuttings. I just made that last part up but it stays. :D

That's how it was when this first appeared :). Still awaiting signs of buds from Nikki's lone peduncle.

    Yes it does, tawny lol.

If only I could upload photos, I would try to get in on that bet with Bella! ;)

I used to have bella, and it died on me, but it did flower for me and it's a great little Hoya to grow. They were very pretty and smelled amazing.

They dislike being hot, don't want tons of light (really like Eastern windows), and shouldn't be allowed to get completely dry. I do get why they aren't that popular, but they are so easy to flower, mine lost so many peduncles this summer thanks to all the stupid 100 heat we had, but has buds on two that it just grew. I don't even worry about losing peduncles with her, that was an alien concept to me before I got started with the others. Let me know who wins the race though!! :D
