Going down hard

Silk Kimono was outstanding in June.

But it's in a sunny part of the bed and drip irrigation obviously wasn't enough with the heat and local drought we had this year. First it lost its white edges and now it looks like this.

Other than not enough water for the sun is there any thing else that would cause this?
