Entryway ideas

BLAH! This wall is the first thing a guest sees when entering the main entrance of my home. I've always been stumped how to decorate this space - I'd like to soften up the corners. I thought about built in shelfs (floating maybe) to extend the surface where the painting is. Working on a paint color too.

I want to WOW my guests. :)

Hello.
I do not have a 'theme' in my home. I collect all genre of original artwork that catches my eye. This narrow painting seemed to fit the space.

Currently I've renovated 2 bathrooms, mudroom and kitchen in a rustic/ country feel. I'm out of town for work, so no pictures for now.

I'm open to structural ideas too. I'm pretty handy with power tools.
