My husband and I recently purchased 15" deep wall cabinets as part of our IKEA kitchen remodel. We just finished building the cabinet boxes when we realized our soffits are only 14" deep. Unfortunately, removing the soffits is not an option for us. Trying to figure out now what our best option is as the cabinets will protrude 1/2"-1" from below the soffit. Should we add some sort of trim to finish the top edge, or will that still look a little off? The other option we're considering is building the soffit out about 2".
