Kitchen Lighting Help

Hi all. Great help so far. We are moving along, and next on the list is lighting. Mostly final layout is below (sorry for the picture quality). We have a 64x98" island, which is the focal point of the space. We had originally planned pendants, but with 8 foot ceilings, want to limit the number of dangling lights. Now, we are considering a single chandelier over the island. We had also thought we would do a pendents over the sink, and similar chandelier in the bay window (planning a seating area with 2 lounge chairs and a small table between). Our inspirational picture is below. We do a lot of cooking (most dinners from scratch), and plan on the island being homework central for the 3 kids while we parents are cooking. So, any ideas on types of lights (pendent vs chandelier vs ceiling flush, etc) and styles would be appreciated.

Inspirational Photo: We are using a bit darker hardwood floor, though keeping the stainless appliances, hood, and self under the hood. The cabinets are a true white, outer counters are steel grey granite, with flat white subway tile above, and paint color similar to this (edgecomb gray) with a center island in a honed white marble (TBD). I don't think these pendents work with our 8 foot ceilings.
