U channel

Is the u channel hard to keep clean? I have two quotes with glass companies telling me two different things. $700 difference between clips and u channel.

    U channel is not hard to keep clean as the glass fits into the U channel, therefore none of the inside is exposed to water. The the outside surface of the U channel would need to be cleaned. The cost of adding clips is between $50 and $75 per clip, in place of U channel.
