Does anyone actually use the bar stools? Because if not, you could add a bank of floor cabinets on that side of the island.

Yes, Charleee, the bar stools are being used regularly.

How about a hanging rack above the island - one that could at least be used to hang pots and pans from. I know the pendant lights are hanging above the island now but those appear oversized and don't really seem to fit. Also, if you want a cheaper alternative to building more cabinets above the existing cabinets, could you find larger size baskets similar to the ones visible in the island and use a number of those placed on top of the existing cabinets?

Thanks Norwood for the suggestions. I did think about the rack above the island but I feel it will be too messy. Agree about the pendent lights. Though I love it but there was a mistake in the installation. The basket is also in consideration but I wanted something that was closed rather then open. I'd stop at the dropped ceiling. It will look too top heavy otherwise.
