Personally, I think two staircases with family photos is overkill. But if you want to go ahead, it's your home after all, I would do the same frame for a less busy look.

We don't see the staircase to the basement, unless we go down to use it, as there is a door at the top of the stairs & is kept closed generally. I probably do have a wall in the basement to hang family pics. That's another dilemma all on its own...I need help polishing things up downstairs too. If no picture collage going down the stairs...would you do anything or just leave bare?

I would just leave it bare. I don't think every space has to be decorated. I'm a big fan of empty space. I also think that most staircases just look awkward with décor. But I think that just might be my quirk. :)

I’ve been in homes where every wall has something hanging on it. I feel it loses it’s Focal point, very busy and not interesting to look at what is displayed.
