Leathered granite

A friend is planning a whole kitchen remodel and has fallen in love with the idea of having leathered granite counters. How are these to maintain? Is there any downside to a leathered treatment she should know about?

I just installed leathered marble about 2 months about everyone assumes it's granite; no downsides so far although she may want to go see just how textured her particular piece would be. Mine has quite a bit such that if you write on a piece of paper directly on the countertops it may make a few bumps. I can post some pics as well

We got leathered granite about 2 months ago and love it! Kids haven't complained about doing homework on it. Occasionally I will slip a folder underneath their work but that's as much for neatness as anything else. Love that I don't have a shiny finish and find it's very easy to maintain. Plus, it feels fabulous!
