There are numerous examples of variegated plants in the Ananas genus, with many shown on the BCR (Bromeliad Cultivar Register).

Some have long thin leaves some are short and stocky and the shape of these leaves can be typical for the particular plant or it can vary due to cultural techniques such as type of potting mix, fertilising programme etc. as well as climatic conditions mainly temperature and amount of available light its grown under.

As well as this, many variegated bromeliads (Ananas included) can be unstable and don't appear identical, year after year.

I don't grow Ananas (pineapples) as my climate doesn't suit them and I'm only quoting from what I've read about them.

Not all hybrids are registered and if it isn't registered, all you have is the "pet name" or "nurseryman's name" (White Stripes) you have seen it advertised as. However, I think your plant could be Ananas 'Pied Delight' as it's very similar to the one pictured on the BCR.
