Find a better location for the settee. Can the settee join the chairs and be part of the grouping?

Instead put a console on that wall and add a lamp or two.

What a lovely living room. You have many nice pieces. The settee feels a bit lost to me, however, as it's not part of either of the other seating groups. Would you be open to moving it closer to the fireplace? Perhaps facing the FP, with two chairs on other side?

If you need to keep it on the wall where it currently sits, I'd actually move it off-centre from the FP, and place it more to the left, under the mirror. I'd move the little silver side table to the other side. In this way, it creates a distinct piece of seating, rather than looking like it wants to be part of the FP grouping.

If you decide to keep the settee apart from the rest of the chairs then at least center it on the wall. Add art instead of the mirror.

I agree with leelee and move the settee to another room. Perhaps at the end your bed or another spot in bedroom. Get a console for that wall and center the mirror over it. This would tie nicely with coffee table

Hang the print over FP above this with your accessories Lamps, etc. You have no floor lighting in the room. Above FP hang art. Place a lamp on the table in other room by sofa.

I might consider placing the above table behind sofa with lamps which would tie the 2 areas together and get a cabinet for settee wall with print that is now over FP. You might try the mirror over FP, but might be too wide. See if it works. Measure mirror and mantle.

One thing I forgot to mention is to move the quilt-like art over the fireplace. It's very busy looking and adds nothing to your room other than to fill space. Looks like it would work better in a bedroom.

Settee is off center because it just feels better this way since when you sit on the settee you can face and see the fireplace and also talk to the people who are sitting on those chairs.

I do like the idea of putting the settee with two other chairs. That way settee would be closer to the fire and u can lay on it next to the FP. But than what so I do with two other chairs. Probably put it on the wall where the settee is right now

I would like to keep the settee in this room to have more seating places. We like to have friends over a lot.

Yes the art piece above the FB is going. It doesn't match with other colors. And also not the right shape. I would much rather have the FP in stone, but that is not option for now.

Have you tried moving the settee into the grouping around the fireplace? Here is a rough floor plan:

After you move the furniture according to er's plan, you could do a dynamite gallery on the wall behind it. I probably wouldn't put a console there; keep that space free for walking. You might also try putting the settee back to back with the sofa, then put two chairs to the left of the fireplace and two chairs facing the fireplace. In any case, the settee needs to come off the wall and join the group.

Here are some wall decor options:

The mirror is too small for the wall behind the settee. It could be included as part of a gallery, if you like.

Allow objects on your mantel to overlap your art. It makes everything feel connected that way.

Have you thought about switching out the seating areas?

Put the 4 chairs by the windows with bookcases and floor lamp. In FP area, bring in the settee and put gold table between red chairs. A coffee table, end table with lamp and another floor lamp. Put gold sofa table above behind sofa. Hang large piece of art on wall across from FP (no table) and a large mirror above FP. Look for a couple of great chandeliers to hang in seating areas for both rooms.

If a gallery wall (per Grover) is not,your bag, just move the mirror so it is centered over the settee. Then, get a tall painting that will fill the larger wall. And move the little table to other side...at least try it that way.

Those two chairs by the window are placed there because they are swivel chair to be able to turn on the side or back and look outside (we have nice view of the garden). I will try it anyway.

I change it little bit as somebody suggested. I will continue with this in few days- have some other important things to take care now.

er612's drawing of the settee being part of the grouping seems to be the best option. Allowing the settee sitters to be part of the conversation instead of in "time out".

The like set of 4 chairs needs to be used together--not split up.

Can you take another look at er's drawing and try that arrangement with a picture, please?

Hi Amy, I see that you purchased almost all of this from Ethan Allen. If you haven't had the designer you purchased the furniture from come out to your space and do a space plan, I would certainly do so. Our services are complimentary. Er612's first space plan seems like the best way to accomplish your needs. It feels much more inclusive set up that way. By having the settee against the wall, you are encouraging traffic to flow in front of it, separating the grouping.

If you feel it necessary to have the settee on that wall, we have two options. That pass through seems almost unnecessary given the openness of the space. Would you consider removing it? If not, we need to balance it with like shapes. Hanging framed art the same size as the opening would go a long way toward giving a sense of balance. Good luck!

Amy, In IMO the settee does not go well with the 4 matching chairs. They need to be in an area on their own. I think that the settee will be much better with the cream sofa and solid red chairs. Try the floor plan above with areas switched, but if you want to keep the red chairs in front of windows, move the settee down with that group. It will fit much better. Consider a console against the wall opposite the fireplace (It should be equal on the wall, not lined up even with FP) with your existing mirror. Measure the length of the mirror and get a console that is 25% longer and that wall will be good. Replace the picture above the FP with a better piece of art and you are good to go.

I did one part of change. Moved settee together with chairs and I like it much better because I Iike to sit/lay on it closer to the fireplace. Take a look at the photos. Also that yellow cabinet will be painted into white or maybe removed in the future.

The new arrangement looks much better. Have you considered hanging the round mirror above the fireplace? I would then hang the mirror that's behind the settee in the round mirror's place.

I completely agree. The new arrangement looks much better. The only change I would make to gain symmetry is to remove the silver table and have all of the chairs on a 45 degree angle to the settee. The coffee table is within reach of everyone, so another surface isn't needed. Maybe use the silver table in the other grouping? The round mirror does look nice above the fireplace, or the larger mirror over the bench could really anchor the room if moved to over the mantel.

The art above the fireplace doesn't work in this room, sorry! So here is some Halloween humor.

Try moving the chairs closer to the fireplace and squaring them up instead of angling them in. It will work better with the settee. Looks much better.
