Fig ripening progression?

Hi there, fig newbie here.

Are there any steps in the ripening progression that I can keep an eye out for, like the phases of tomato ripening?

I currently have about 8 figs that are still green that I am absolutely dying to see ripen- I got them just this summer as cuttings.

I have them inside in my overwintering room with my citrus under summer conditions, I was hoping to let them ripen then put them into dormancy.

It seems like they are about 3 months into a 4 month ripening process based on everyone else's comments. Are there any ripening signs I can keep a look out for? Should I also keep fertilizing the ones with fruit?
