Hello once again. I've been referring to this forum for a couple of years and this year was my first growing garlic. Yep, last fall I planted garlic and harvested in mid July. I garden for the kitchen and after this year I decided that onion, shallot, and garlic are the most important crops to consider because they are so darned tasty in salads and sauces.

Here are some questions that may seem obvious but for me are a block, so here is what I did this summer and what my question is:

On July 18th after harvesting garlic, I added a layer of compost and planted various 'bush' french/green beans, and butter beans. I chose bush beans because they grow fast and might amend the soil in a beneficial way.

These little beans performed like champions. I could not believe how fast they grew the first 4 weeks. But now I am thinking about preparing the raised bed for another year of garlic onions and shallot.

Should I pull what is left of the beans root and all from the soil, or leave the plants to die and plant bulbs around them?
